"That’s what Wooden Heights is all about—quality work,  honest service, and building something that lasts."

At Wooden Heights, we build staircases and hardwood floors that are made to last and designed to look great in your home. The company was started by Steve Savoie, who brings over 25 years of hands-on experience and a genuine love of woodworking into every project.

Steve got into woodworking at a young age. Growing up in Scarborough, he always felt pulled toward a quieter, more rural life, so he moved to the Kawarthas as a teenager. That’s where he got his start at The Oaken Door, a busy local stair and flooring company, and really began learning the trade.

He didn’t even have a car at the time—he hitchhiked to work every day. That kind of determination stuck with him, driven by the need to support his growing family and do something he truly enjoyed.

Over the years, Steve learned every part of the job—from measuring and layout to detailed designs and understanding building codes. He spent more than 13 years working in Kawartha Lakes before moving on to R&A Stairs, where he spent another 12 years building high-end staircases in luxury homes around Newmarket. From simple, solid basement stairs to detailed custom showpieces, he’s done it all.

Alongside that, Steve has spent the last 15 years taking on his own projects. That’s where he really got to branch out—trying new ideas, fine-tuning his craft, and working directly with homeowners. During that time, he also expanded into custom woodworking, building cabinets, tables, built-ins, and one-of-a-kind pieces based on his customers’ ideas.

Now, Steve is bringing everything back to where it started with Wooden Heights, serving Kawartha Lakes and the surrounding areas. What makes it even more meaningful is working alongside his oldest son—passing down everything he’s learned over the years and keeping that craftsmanship going into the next generation.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about the work. It’s about doing things right, building something you’re proud of, and making sure the people you’re working with are happy with the result.

That’s what Wooden Heights is all about—quality work, honest service, and building something that lasts.
